Overview

Well-trained faculty members are considered a requirement for a successful POCUS program. Facing the challenge of the availability of adequately trained faculty members to lead POCUS curriculum makes it challenging to start a POCUS program at an institution.  The presenters hypothesized that POCUS is a skill that can be acquired and taught by the residents if an adequate number of trained faculty are not available for the program. This webinar will describe a successful model of residents as champions to develop a successful POCUS program. This model focuses on enhanced and supervised training of a group of residents in POCUS. These residents will complete training in a cost-effective model, including image portfolio acquisition and essential participation in didactics. These residents, after training, will then help the program in the development of a formal POCUS curriculum.  The webinar will discuss the hurdles and challenges in POCUS skill development and ways to overcome those challenges with the help of POCUS-trained residents.
