The Life-Changing Magic of Tracking Your Time
Laura Vanderkam is the author of multiple time management and productivity books including "168 Hours: You Have More Time Than You Think." Her work encourages reframing how we think about time and work-life integration by viewing our lives in one-week segments. This workshop introduces participants to the concept of time-tracking. Time logs allow for comparison between how we spend our time and how we think we spend our time. Using Vanderkam's concept of "core competencies," we will identify our own core competencies and goals for how we want to spend our time both at work and during our leisure time. Improving alignment between how we would ideally like to spend our time and how we currently spend our time can mitigate work-life conflict and lead to lower rates of burnout and improved perception of wellness. We will identify the stories we tell ourselves about time and challenge aspects of those stories that may be inaccurate. Participants will learn to shift away from the "narrative of busyness" and "I don't have time for that" to "that's not a priority for me."
