Milestones for Administrators 2.0
As part of a team engagement project and effort to mirror the ACGME's milestones initiative, the presenters crafted "Milestones for Program Administrators" in 2013, and subsequently presented them at both APDIM and ACGME national conferences. Milestones were organized under professional competencies: personal care, medical education knowledge, interpersonal and communication skills, professionalism, practice-based learning and improvement, andsystems-based practice.
The intent of these earlier presentations was to demonstrate the relevance of milestone achievement to support staff who manage medical education programs and who are continuing to advance their own professional acumen and reputation in the GME community. An added benefit was to provide a comprehensive understanding of the ACGME Next Accreditation System and milestones project.
Flash forward to 2022 and milestones for administrators 2.0. Workshop presenters will describe the scenario leading up to, during, and post pandemic and the need to re-evaluate these milestones in a similar fashion to ACGME 2.0 updates. The workshop will include how a team of GME administrators collaborated to review and revise the milestones. We propose to focus on the areas that required the most updates to our roles, such as technical skills around virtual learning/recruitment and challenges to well-being posed by remote and/or hybrid work models (isolation, work/life integration, setting boundaries and managing flexible schedules).
