Framework First: Reshaping the Didactic Curriculum
Details

Overview

In the ever-evolving landscape of internal medicine education, creating a structured, sustainable, and scalable didactic framework is essential. This workshop will guide participants through building a curriculum grounded in the ABIM blueprint, aligning educational content with diverse delivery methods including in-person didactics, online modules, podcasts, and question banks. We'll explore strategies to match content format with educational value—prioritizing protected, in-person time for high-impact topics, while shifting others to asynchronous modalities. A key focus will be optimizing faculty FTEs to ensure feasibility and engagement, even in resource-limited settings. Additionally, we’ll demonstrate how to leverage the x+y schedule to empower residents to create meaningful, peer-led case conferences for academic half days (AHDs). Participants will leave with a customizable, four-lecture-per-week template that can be adapted across various program sizes and structures. Whether you're overhauling your current system or building from scratch, this session offers practical tools to bring structure, flexibility, and innovation to your residency's educational core.
