AIMW Workshop 411. Reframing Your Work with an Education Scholarship Perspective
Details

Overview
A career in academic medicine is filled with opportunities.  Approaches to teaching have changed, the way learners prefer to learn has evolved, and new discoveries in medicine require continuous updates to curricula.   While these adjustments may at times feel daunting, the ongoing modifications to both content and delivery of programs provides a rich opportunity for educational scholarship.   The past three decades have offered a wealth of publications supporting career pathways in medical education and approaches to educational scholarship.   To advance academically, clinician-educators must disseminate their work.   All too often, the day-to-day realities of work make educational scholarship feel unattainable.    This workshop is a starting point for reframing everyday work with a focus on potential scholarship .   All projects begin with a well-formed question.   Question development is iterative, starting with a general concept and honing this down to a query that can be practically addressed.   Finding the balance between too broad and too specific is challenging yet essential for framing the work.   Presenters will provide exercises to guide attendees through identifying, writing, and refining questions based on scenarios and personal work.
