Where's Waldo- Focusing on Missed Opportunities in the Domain of Leadership, Administration, and Organizational Skills in Your Faculty Development
Details

Overview

Faculty development is essential for personal and professional growth. Multiple scoping reviews have highlighted the ever-expanding roles of clinician educators and in turn the growth of faculty development offerings, yet it is a daunting task to initiate and implement a faculty development program. An unpublished review of MedEdPORTAL by the AAIM Faculty Development Task Force Initiative between 2021 and 2023 identified the domain of  Leadership, Administration, and Organizational Skills as being underrepresented in faculty development resources.  This workshop presented by members of the AAIM Faculty Development Task Force will identify and explore faculty development planning and delivery related to this domain. A small group exercise will guide attendees through a needs assessment of their institution specific to leadership, administration and organizational skills, followed by the identification of challenges of faculty development implementation in this domain. We will share a faculty development planning tool to help institutions conduct a needs assessment, identify areas of focus, and then develop strategies to address the barriers, and effectively implement and sustain longitudinal faculty development. A selection of high-yield resources will be reviewed and disseminated. Participants will leave with a faculty development planning tool to utilize within their home institution.
