Reinvigorate High-Value Care Education for Your Residents and Faculty in The Classroom and At The Bedside: A Practical Tour of Accessible HVC Educational Tools
Details

Overview

This faculty development workshop directed towards both educational leaders who oversee resident curricula and ward and clinic attendings responsible for supervising residents who are interested in creating a culture of high value care (HVC) practice. This workshop will help participants identify formal, existing high value care educational tools and learn to capture the many informal teaching moments for HVC in the workroom and at the bedside. Incorporating these tools into resident education and faculty development in the classroom and at the point of care will help drive the cultural journey towards a HVC mindset. Participants will review the rationale for integrating HVC education for residents and faculty as well as share their current approach to HVC education in their respective institutions and any barriers or opportunities for improvement. The presenters will demonstrate the access and use of current, freely available online HVC educational tools and list practical approaches to integration of these tools in their programs. Finally, participants will work in small groups to brainstorm ways to incorporate these tools and address challenges within their home educational environment in the classroom and at the bedside.
