Combining Coaching and Individualized Learning Plans Using Three Learner-Centered Frameworks

Combining Coaching and Individualized Learning Plans Using Three Learner-Centered Frameworks

Course Overview

The goal of fostering self-directed, lifelong learners is a foundational principle for the competency of “Practice-Based Learning and Improvement – Reflective Practice and Commitment to Personal Growth” (PBLI2). Achievement of this goal is demonstrated when residents independently design and implement an individual learning plan (ILP).

Grounded in Malcom Knowles’ principles of adult learning theory (i.e. andragogy), this webinar will prepare faculty to advise and coach learners using three learner-centered frameworks: self-determination theory; appreciative inquiry; and commitment to change. This webinar focuses on providing faculty these additional skills to coach and offer feedback to learners as they develop their own ILPs along the path to becoming lifelong learners.
